The Central Pattaya nightlife has several areas and streets with a concentrated volume of bars all next to each other.
On my 5 trips, I've explored these areas extensively, drinking, chatting with tourists, listening to live music, dancing, playing pool, bar games, people watching and meeting ladies.
The great thing about the Pattaya nightlife is you can roam from area to area throughout the night, sampling an area, enjoy it, then move on. Then sometimes coming back again.
You're only limited by your energy for walking and your ability to drink.
You can just order non-alcoholic drinks, but you do at least have to order something. You cannot just go into a bar and not buy something. You will notice older ex-pats nursing a beer for hours.
All the bars have what you are looking for, but perhaps not quite at the time you happen to be there.
You don't have to wait, you can just move along to find something or someone to your liking.
Usually I focus on a few areas each night and then different areas the next night, trying to make my way to all the areas over the course of a trip. Sometimes I go into an area from a different direction next time.
Plus, it's best to not go back to the same bar if you met a lady there on an earlier night.
I carefully made note of the bars on my last 4 trips. My first trip I did not keep track that well, so the number is estimated.
These numbers include ones I visited a few times.

256 Bars
Even if I went back to some of the same bars a few times, 256 is a lot of bars. And I only scratched the surface. There are hundreds more.
Some bars are special to me either for the view, the live music, the attentive staff, the low prices or just because they are nice to sit and relax. I go back every trip or even a few times each trip.
These bars are for sitting and relaxing with a drink, rather than meeting ladies, although you can meet a lady in almost any bar in Pattaya. But it is understood that these are low-key.
In no particular order and why I love them:
These 2 areas are close to Central Pattaya, but I will discuss them in different articles.
I love both, especially Soi 6, making it a point to get there at least once each trip. However, both these areas are so intense with the volume of visitors, loud music and extent of ladies, I can't handle it every night.
Walking Street also seems to cater to a younger crowd and to non-western tourists. As an aging man from the US, I don't feel as comfortable as the areas in Central Pattaya.
The Main North - South Running Roads in Central PattayaBeach Road is one-way traffic going south. Normally you can get on the baht bus at specific stops. Beach Road has multiple lanes of traffic and can get very busy.
Beach Roads starts on the south immediately north of Walking Street at the intersection with South Pattaya Road. It runs parallel to the ocean, with the beach on the west side and bars, restaurants, malls, hotels and other stores on the east side. It ends at the intersection of North Pattaya Road.
The majority of the Beach Road bars are closer to the intersection of Central Pattaya Road. These are really nice to watch the sunset.

Second Road is one-way traffic going north. Normally you can get on the baht bus at specific stops. Second Road has multiple lanes of traffic and can get very busy.
Second Road starts at the intersection of South Pattaya Road on the south and runs north all the way out of Central Pattaya all the way to Terminal 21 Mall.

Soi Buakhao is two-way traffic. Normally you can get on the baht bus just by waving down the driver. Soi Buakhao only has 2 lanes of traffic and can get extremely busy.
Only some of Soi Buakhao has sidewalks, so be careful! Everyone says to walk facing the traffic.
Soi Buakhao starts at the intersection of South Pattaya Road on the south and runs north to Central Pattaya Road.
The majority of the bars are located in the middle portion, about 6 blocks north and 10 blocks south of Treetown with minimal nightlife at the far north and south ends.
You Will Notice:
Third Road is two-way traffic. While I have seen baht buses on Third Road I have not been able to wave them down. Third Road has multiple lanes of traffic and can get busy, but not nearly as busy as the other 3 north-south roads.
Third Road starts at the intersection of South Pattaya Road on the south and runs north to Central Pattaya Road.
Notes:
Central Pattaya East West RoadsYou cannot catch the baht bus on these roads. They are typically narrow, with some having minimal traffic, but there are exceptions, so always be on the lookout for vehicles.
Starts at the intersection of Soi Buakhao and runs east to Third Road.
This is the most southerly of the major east - west roads with a lot of Pattaya nightlife.
Wide, usually very busy road with 2 way traffic.
You Will Notice:
Starts at the intersection of Soi Buakhao and runs west to Second Road.

It is also known as Soi Pothole because of the massive number of potholes. They did a poor job of constructing the road without dealing with the drainage. The last I heard, they did repave it, so it might be ok for awhile.
Very narrow road with minimal vehicle traffic at night, so fairly safe for walking except for the treacherous potholes.

This road starts at Beach Road and goes west all the way out of Central Pattaya. It has multiple lanes of two-way traffic. Usually when you catch the baht bus on Soi Buakhao it will take you down Central Pattaya Road to Second Road or maybe Beach Road.
There is not a lot of nightlife on Central Pattaya Road.
However, there are a few bars close to Beach Road that are very nice.
I met a Palmy look alike at one of them:).
I've had a crush on Palmy since the first time I saw her in some music videos. She is one of the major reason I wanted to get to Thailand in the first place.
Loop Road AreasThese area have both north-south and east-west roads.
They all have a chaotic, intense energy with loud music, lots of ladies, multiple bars and many visitors.
The main entrance is off Soi Buakhao with most of the nightlife on that end.
The other entrance is on Buakhaow 15 and is a way to get to the Pattaya Avenue Mall.

You Will Notice:
This is a U-shaped Street that surrounds a food court open until bar time and is right off of Soi Buakhao. The bars here are mostly open-air beer bars.

While Treetown is exciting, loud and wild, it is not as loud and chaotic as Soi Boomerang and LK Metro.
There are so many bars in these areas, you are sure to find some that you really love while you are busy having the best time of your life.
